The right person for this role should have 6-9 years of work experience in accounting and finance with a Bachelor’s degree or 4-7 years with a Master’s degree. Prior financial experience with a government contractor and project accounting preferred. Competence in financial and bookkeeping software is required. Proficient knowledge of spreadsheets is crucial.

Key duties and responsibilities of a Program Financial Analyst Contractor L3 include:

  • Responsible for providing high quality business partnering and accurate, actionable financial analysis and insight to Program Managers
  • Consolidate data and information from many sources into an integrated financial/business picture that management can utilize and act on. 
  • Performs transaction research, analysis, and prepares financial reports.
  • Perform journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate revenue recognition in compliance with established accounting policy.
  • Analyze and validate actual contract performance against forecast.
  • Prepare contract billings and assist with forecasting cash receipts.

A successful Program Financial Analyst Contractor L3 will have a mix of organizational and analytical skills. They should be able to work with numbers, generate reports and find discrepancies as well as cost-saving opportunities. Other qualifications may include: 

  • Strong competency with ERP accounting systems and process; experience with Deltek Cost Point and Cobra is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of accounting theory and GAAP
  • Data entry skills
  • Comfortable with math, calculations, and reconciliation
  • Must have strong listening and communication skills
  • Must have meticulous attention to detail
  • Must be a self-starter with capability to be achieve a high level of productivity remotely
  • Must have strong organization and time management skills
  • Must be good at identifying and resolving problems
  • Must be a team player willing to contribute to overall team objectives.
  • Able to explain and troubleshoot financial issues with non-finance professionals.
