Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks an Analysis, Integration and Test (AIT) Engineer to join our F/A-18E/F and E/A-18G Mission Systems team at Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake in Ridgecrest, CA.  

This individual will be responsible for the integration and testing of new and upgraded subsystems within the weapon systems avionics suite enabling new and improved future capabilities in the F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler fleet. This role requires you to work directly with aircraft systems, testing labs, ground tests, and flight tests to ensure avionics systems functionality delivers desired capability to the warfighter.

NAWS China Lake is adjacent to the city of Ridgecrest and is located in the Western Mojave Desert region of California, approximately 150 miles north of Los Angeles. NAWS China Lake is one of the largest military installations in the world: in total, its main site and two ranges cover more than 1.1 million acres, an area larger than the state of Rhode Island.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Experienced and Senior Level Analysis, Integration and Test (AIT) Engineer.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with internal stakeholders and external customers to coordinate execution of ongoing hardware-software integration efforts in a fast-paced Agile environment, often with changing requirements

  • Participate in flight briefs, flight testing, and flight debriefs to verify system behavior and integration into platform

  • Participate on test and analysis teams; provides guidance and recommendations to test conductors, engineers, technicians, maintainers, customers, and management to ensure program and test objectives are achieved

  • Responsible for communication across teams as well as multiple engineering disciplines and program leadership

  • Provide support and solves problems concerning fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle

  • Provide technical leadership and guides on-the-job training for entry level engineers

  • Support productivity improvements through the use of Lean principles as well as sharing best practices and lessons learned

  • Understand and work with F/A-18 functional counterparts (software and hardware teams, SEIT, BGS) to ensure handoffs are clearly defined to deliver products that meet requirements and are delivered on schedule and within cost

  • Build customer trust by being available for technical consultation and troubleshooting assistance when requested by the customer

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • (Level 3) 5+ years of work related experience with a Bachelor’s or 3+ years of work related experience with a Master’s or work related experience with a PhD

  • (Level 4) 9+ years of work related experience with a Bachelor’s or 7+ years of work related experience with a Master’s or 4+ years of work related experience with a PhD

  • Experience with military avionics or training technology

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Experience with electronic system design, code and test

  • Experience in developing and executing test plans and test cases

  • Experience using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) process

  • Experience in translating Customer requirements to System requirements or System requirements to Subsystem requirements

Typical Education/Experience: 

(Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

(Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range (Experienced, Level 3): $102,850 - $139,150

Summary pay range (Senior, Level 4): $128,350 - $173,650
