Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Mechanical Inspector to support the M&MP Quality function in Huntington Beach, CA!

Position Responsibilities:

  • Conduct progressive and final acceptance inspections, including functional testing operations on completed subassemblies and assemblies such as nose, engine sections, missile boosters, sustainers, tanks, thrust chambers, engines, guidance sections, platforms, ground support equipment valve, storage tank complexes, fixed and mobile launch mounts, van trailers; shelter sections and ground handling equipment including transporters and other related equipment; access and auxiliary doors, fillets, control surfaces and panels, including such installations as tubing, control brackets, rigging, and hydraulic units.
  • Inspect skinning, riveting, and welding operations on assemblies such as tanks, fins, trailers, and consoles.Includes the mechanical installations therein and any required functional and/or pressure checking.May include minor electrical installations and operations incidental to mechanical assemblies.
  • Authorize the final close-up of areas prior to release of major components for final operations, present completed assemblies for customer’s approval as required.Check layouts made from blueprints and sketches which establish locations and dimensions.
  • Check installations and precision mating or fitting based on these layouts.Is guided by directives, blueprints, specifications, and inspection procedures.Inspect work for acceptable quality, completeness, proper functions, and adherence to engineering specifications.Check for presence and completeness of required records and data sheets.Order rejections or rework.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Security Clearance & Export Control Requirements:

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • More than 3 years of experience inspecting parts, components, assemblies, or units

  • More than 3 years of experience interpreting manufacturing blueprints

Preferred Qualifications ( Skills/Experience):

  • More than 1 year of relevant aerospace or military experience

Typical Education / Experience:

High school graduate or GED. Prefer a minimum of one (1) or more years of related work experience.

Additional Information:

  • The selected candidate must be able to work any shift, as assigned.

  • This is an hourly position governed by the IAM Collective Bargaining agreement.

Relocation:

This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation.  Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Summary pay range: $22.00/hourly – $40.82/hourly
