Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) seeks a Wire Harness Engineer to serve as a Senior Cable / Wiring Harness Design Engineer to join the Space, Intelligence and Weapon Systems (SIWS) Electrical Engineering Team in Huntsville, Alabama with the Huntsville Design Center supporting several programs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead work with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements.
  • Develop and maintain cable/wire harness detail and assembly designs.
  • Analyze results and perform design reviews.
  • Lead and coordinate work to analyze and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware, and software designs and interface specifications.
  • Lead work to test and validate to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
  • Oversee the team that monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.
  • Solve problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
  • Research technology advances for potential application to company business needs.
  • Make recommendations for technology investments.

This position is expected to be fully onsite in Huntsville, AL.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  An interim or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 3+ years of experience with cable/wire harness detail and assembly designs.
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical/electronic hardware design.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Experience developing electronics for space applications.
  • System grounding experience.
  • Experience working with electro-optical systems.
  • Experience developing VHDL firmware.

Typical Education & Experience:

Experienced (level 3):  Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Lead (level 4):  Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range: 

Experienced (level 3):  97,750 – 132,250

Lead (level 4):  119,850 – 162,150.
