The Boeing Global Services (BGS) and the C-17Parts Management Team, located in sunny Long Beach, California, is seeking an Associate or Mid-Level Engineering Technical Specialist.

The Parts Management Engineering Technical Specialist’s role will support parts management activities on the C-17 program. This a unique opportunity to support the C-17 program as a part of a highly engaged team with a broad set of responsibilities including, but not limited to: Parts Obsolescence, Item Unique Identification (IUID), and the Government Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Updating and maintaining parts databases for parts across the program.
  • Proactively researching parts across program to seek out possible obsolescence issues and support mitigation for any potential obsolescence risks identified.
  • Supporting Item Unique Identification (IUID) implementation activities, including supporting requirements definition for new engineering activities for IUID.
  • Assists with training in the utilization of processes and tools and supports the integration of engineering designs.
  • Assists in performing assessments of compliance and assessing areas of unknown compliance.
  • Assists in the development, maintenance and distribution of engineering documents, reports and correspondence to enable business activity.
  • Collects, analyzes and validates engineering performance metrics and coordinates organizational requirements to support business needs.
  • Works under general supervision.
  • May be asked to support other programs or perform other duties as needed.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree and 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ years of experience in communicating, collaborating, and building consensus with internal and external stakeholders.
  • 1+ years of experience with extracting and compiling data from multiple sources.
  • 1+ years of experience with maintaining large databases.
  • 1+ years working with suppliers or vendors.
  • Proficiency and experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 6+ years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education.
  • Experience with organizational and team building skills performed in a cross-functional environment.
  • Experience with computer programming and large database management.
  • Experience with GIDEP.
  • Experience with IUID.
  • Experience with parts obsolescence management and mitigation.
  • Experience working on military contract required deliverables.
  • Experience with project management or project engineering.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience in a role that requires strong analytical skills.

Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Associate-Level Summary pay range: $76,500 - $103,500

Mid-Level Summary pay range: $90,100 - $121,900


Export Control Requirements: This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
