The Boeing Global Services (BGS) is a Senior levelStructural Analysis Engineer to join the C-17 Program Engineering Team located in Long Beach, CA. 

The C-17 Globemaster III is a large military transport aircraft with unique capabilities, combining the attributes of a strategic airlifter with those of a tactical airlifter.  Currently, C-17 operators plan to operate them until at least the 2070s, which will require extensive engineering support to monitor, modify, repair, and improve the fleet. In support of this goal, C-17 Structures is looking for motivated individuals to join the team to support of the Aircraft Structural Integrity Program.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with other C-17 Stress Analysts to become familiar with C-17 Tools, Processes, and Documentation requirements.
  • Analyze repairs and modifications to the C-17 aircraft utilizing FEM and other computer and hand methods.
  • Perform structural strength analysis using classical and computer aided techniques.
  • Document and publish/release structural designs and analysis results.
  • Evaluate complex vehicles and systems from a multitude of perspectives. Includes the ability to apply figures of merit and integrated optimization tools. Ability to perform multi-disciplinary trade studies to evaluate configuration alternatives for functional and spatial integration.
  • Collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.
  • Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.
  • Work towards eligibility to be granted C-17 Delegated Engineering Authority.
  • Supervise and train early-career team members.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an Engineering classification.
  • 5+ years’ experience with fatigue and damage tolerance analysis.
  • 5+ years’ experience with finite element modeling structural analysis methods and tools.
  • 5+ years’ experience in structural analysis.
  • Experience using excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with leaders and colleagues in an engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 9+ years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education.
  • 5+ years’ experience working with structural sizing, and finite element models/simulations using NASTRAN/PATRAN, ABAQUS, Hypermesh, Optistruct, etc.
  • Experience independently constructing, executing, reviewing, and managing structural finite element models.

Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range: $124,100 - $154,900.
