Boeing Commercial Aircraft (BCA) – Structures Design Team is seeking a Senior Structural Design & Payload Engineer with knowledge of aircraft design and engineering principles to support commercial aircraft programs in Long Beach, CA.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.

  • Develops, maintains and modifies structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Leads performance, integration and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.

  • Manages supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.

  • Assists with investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.

  • Works Under Minimal Directions

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.

  • 10+ years of experience with drawing, reading and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • 7+ years in aircraft primary structures design.

  • 2+ years of experience using IVT (Integration Visualization Tool).

  • 2+ years of experience using Boeing-specific engineering tools and processes across multiple commercial programs.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 9+ years of experience working with Structures Design or Stress Analysis Related Work Statements.

  • Experience with engineering tools such as CATIA, ENOVIA, and PDM is desired.

  • Experience with structural design principles for aircraft primary structures (e.g., fatigue, damage tolerance, corrosion, stress analysis, statics, materials strength, material characteristics, and repair techniques).

  • Experience in Airplane Design, Stress Analysis, Liaison Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering strongly preferred.

  • Experience with Boeing 7-Series Aircraft Primary Structures is desired.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

  • $120,700 - $163,300
