The Boeing Company is looking for an Experienced Software Engineer, Developer to join the National Systems Programs (NSP) software capability team located in El Segundo, California.  This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

The selected candidate will perform full stack development using the AWS infrastructure. The ideal candidate has experience working across the tech stack with a solid understanding of software architecture, infrastructure tooling, and engineering fundamentals. The candidate will collaborate with cross functional teams and stakeholders to design and implement scalable software solutions, ensure engineering excellence, and achieve program objectives.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, and maintain web applications that meet industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards.

  • Review, analyze, and translate customer requirements into initial design of software products.

  • Develop, maintain, enhance, and optimize software products and functionalities for systems integrations.

  • Develop, document, and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software products.

  • Participate in the agile software development lifecycle including planning, reviews, and supporting customer meetings.

  • Analyze, characterize, debug and resolve performance related issues to ensure reliability and efficiency of software products.

  • Handle user inquiries, troubleshoot technical issues, and analyze user feedback.

  • Implement current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and changes in regulations relevant to software development.

  • Develop, establish, monitor, and improve software processes, tools, and key performance metrics that align with organization goals and industry benchmarks.

  • Execute and document software research and development projects.

  • Advise on software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.

  • Perform software project management activities and software supplier management functions.

  • Track and evaluate software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process compliance to project plans and industry standards.

  • Perform cost benefit analysis to help guide technical solutions

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position requires an active Top Secret/SCI U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Coding Challenge:

To be considered for this position candidates will be required to complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • 1 plus years’ experience in Python and frameworks such as Django, Flask, and FastAPI

  • 2 plus years’ experience with JavaScript and/or Typescript including frameworks like React

  • Strong understanding of software architecture principles and design patterns

  • 1 plus years’ experience with software development using agile principles and a structured development process

Preferred Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Familiarity with relational databases

  • Understanding of Infrastructure Tooling (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD Pipelines)

  • Understanding of building out regression test suites

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Travel:

Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.

Relocation

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.  Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.

Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range for Experienced: $114,750.00 - $155,250.00.
