Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is looking for a Composites Design Engineer to join the elite Phantom Works Radome team in sunny Mesa, AZ. This position is in support of Boeing’s Phantoms Works radome team, developing state of the art radomes from napkin sketches to flight qualification using unique materials and skillful engineering to develop and lead radomes and composite components into manufacturing. We develop radomes for vehicles that are undersea, cruising on the surface, flying supersonic in the air and accelerating in outer space.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Lead and Senior Level Composites Design Engineer.

Position Responsibilities:

  • NX composites design engineer with CAD drawing experience. Ability to take the NX CAD model to full detail determining where each ply starts and ends. Ability to generate a composite drawing from an NX CAD model
  • Performs NX modeling in an IPDM environment, including team center
  • Lead the development, maintenance or modification of system components' designs/proposals to provide installation and detail documentation
  • Communicate with other Phantom Works sites and collaborate on designs, and other approaches for best engineering outcomes
  • Manage supplier development, test and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program goals
  • Prioritize, delegate and track performance and documentation of analyses of mechanisms/landing gear/ordnance components and systems selecting appropriate methods to validate or assess the design
  • Support proposal preparation and new business development efforts
  • Train and coach others
  • Work under minimal direction

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically and/or Internationally depending on business needs.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • (Level 4) 9+ years of work related experience with a Bachelor’s or 7+ years of work related experience with a Master’s or 4+ years of work related experience with a PhD
  • (Level 5) 14+ years of work related experience with a Bachelor’s or 12+ years of work related experience with a Master’s or 9+ years of work related experience with a PhD
  • Proficient in NX CAD

Typical Education/Experience: 

(Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

(Level 5)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range (Level 4): $115,600 - $156,400

Summary pay range (Level 5): $136,850 - $185,150
