The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity available in Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) on the Space Launch System (SLS) team for a Senior Aerospace Aircraft Machinistto support our operations in New Orleans, LA.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Works with technical counterparts and others to develop solutions to complex out of sequence emergent production machining challenges.

  • Develops and revises Machine Control Data (MCD) and geometry.

  • Assists in defining methods of operations and sequences to meet company and customer objectives.

  • Interprets high level requirements to successfully complete complex non-routine, machining operations.

  • Mentors other machinists in resolving issues and completing job responsibilities.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This is a NASA safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

This position is for 1st shift (This position may require candidate to work 2nd or 3rd shift after training)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Ability to work any shift, overtime, weekends

  • Ability to operate material handling equipment

  • Experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, electrical schematics, and reading and interpreting detailed blueprints or drawings

  • Able to use precision measuring instruments.

  • 10 or more years of experience using manual machining equipment; mill, lathe machines, drill press etc.

  • 10 or more years of experience setting up fixtures, operating, and programming CNC machines.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to support frequent standing, walking, lifting, and working at heights with or without equipment assistance.

  • Ability to work on uneven terrain.

  • Experience leading/training other employees

Preferred Qualifications

  • Able to perform turning, forming, straight and angle drilling boring, thread chasing, facing, cutting reaming and precision grinding.

  • Experience operating material handling equipment

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. High School diploma/GED) and typically 7 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. vocational school/Associate+5 years' related work, Bachelor+2 years' related work, etc.).

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Summary pay range: $65,450 – $88,550
