Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is currently seeking Aircraft Assembly Structures Mechanics (Level B or C) to assist with multiple areas of the production system while working on different airplane programs throughout your career in North Charleston, South Carolina on a Variable Shift!

In this role, you will work within a manufacturing assembly environment by drawing on knowledge acquired from training and certification classes to complete your daily assigned work. By interpreting drawings and reading/comprehending work instructions you will be responsible for identifying your work (task) location on the airplane/part/tooling and identifying all required hand tools, parts and equipment to accomplish defect-free work.

Primary Responsibilities:   

  • Must have the ability to complete the New Hire Training Cycle Flow to obtain and maintain all required certifications.

  • Use a computer in a production environment.

  • Set up and validating jigs and other tooling setup.

  • Performing close tolerance drilling and installations in critical aircraft structural areas.

  • Use of calibrated precision measuring tools.

  • Experience with various fastener removal tools and techniques.

  • Experience working with CFRP, aluminum and titanium structural, drilling, sanding, trimming.  

  • Look up/read/comprehend technical work instructions, drawings, and/or specifications.

  • Software Applications; Microsoft Power Point, Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Windows, SAP.

  • Appropriate protective clothing/equipment determined by the task you are performing.

  • Operate mechanical lifts of various types (e.g. ladders, Scissor Lift and JLG Bucket lifts).

  • Use of Various structural assembly hand tools and air tools.

  • Inspect your work quality and check for FOD (Foreign Object Debris).

  • Climbing/balancing (stairs, ladders, poles, scaffolding, inclined surfaces), Crawling, Crouching (squatting).

  • Working around energized sources (electrical equipment and hazards/shock, e.g. circuit breakers and wiring) and exposure to constant noise.

  • Reading from a computer screen, printed drawings or documents.

  • Ability to adhere to high standards of Safety and Compliance to regulation.

  • Carrying/Lifting up to 10-35 pounds.

  • Flexion/Extension (head bent down, head bent back), Handling, Kneeling, Bending at the waist, Reaching (overhead), Rotation of head/neck, Standing, Twisting at the waist and walking.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Ability to work variable shift (1st, 2nd or 3rd)

  • 1 year of experience in a technical or mechanical field performing work with basic hand tools

  • 1+ years of experience using software applications for internet navigation, email, Microsoft Suite and/or other specialized computer applications.

  • 1 years of composite experience

  • 1+ years of experience with aircraft structural parts fabrication, assembly processes and procedures

  • 1+ years of experience utilizing and following detailed work instructions, reading, and interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications, in English.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must be able to work in confined space.

  • Must be able to work with hazardous chemicals.

  • 3+ years’ experience with the Structural repair operations process involving the 787 and or other legacy Boeing Models 727, 737, 747, 757, 767, 777 airplane programs.

  • 3+ years' experience in aerospace, manufacturing, and/or fabrication,

  • Completion of degree or certification from a trade school and/or A&P license

Typical Education/Experience:

Associate (Level B): Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. High School diploma/GED) and typically 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. vocational school/Associate).

Experienced (Level C): Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. High School diploma/GED) and typically 4 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. vocational school/, Associate+2 years' related work, Bachelor, etc.).

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Associate (Level B) summary pay range: $50,600 - $54,450

Experience (Level C) summary pay range: $59,220 - $60,480
