We are seeking a Senior Energy & Conservation Specialist (Level 4) to join our Global Real Estate & Facilities (GREF) team, supporting the identification and implementation of energy efficiency, water conservation and solid waste reduction projects and programs. This position is located in North Charleston, South Carolina.  

This senior individual contributor role will manage Boeing’s East Region utility accounts, identify risks, develop mitigation plans related to utilities infrastructure & reliability, and lead utility conservation initiatives.  The East Region includes Boeing South Carolina, Philadelphia, and Huntsville, AL among other sites. 

With a systems thinking approach, this role will also have the opportunity to influence how we identify and improve our significant energy using assets, consider feasibility of new energy technologies & alternative energy sources, and impact continuous improvements in how we manage the East Region utility portfolio. 

Key Position Responsibilities:

  • Analyze energy consumption patterns across facilities

  • Serve as relationship manager for utility service providers

  • Identify opportunities for energy, water and non-hazardous solid waste reductions

  • Develop site strategies to achieve sustainability and energy management goals

  • Lead and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to accomplish sustainability targets and implement best practices

  • Integrate conservation best practices into broader business strategies

  • Provide expertise on energy conservation practices and technologies

  • Use data to support decision-making and future planning

  • Continually improve processes and programs that impact energy, water and solid waste conservation

  • Share benchmarking industry best practices and apply them within operations

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

The role supports other Boeing sites and will require occasional travel to locations around the domestic United States, up to 10% of time. 

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher (preferred disciplines in Energy Management, Sustainability Engineering, Engineering or other relevant fields)

  • Possess Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or other energy management certification

  • 5+ years of experience within project leadership including planning, implementing and executing program plans

  • Experience analyzing energy related data to produce a strategy

  • Experience developing and executing energy projects

  • Experience reviewing and interpreting government regulations/requirements for energy related matters

  • Experience working with technical, managerial and executive levels & leading presentations to them (written/verbal/presentation skills)

Desired Qualifications (Preferred Skills/Experience):

  • Demonstrated skills as a leader & change agent in a global manufacturing company (working as a collaborative change agent)

  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) skills

  • Experience in sustainability strategy, engagement, consulting, and/or program management

  • Experience applying risk management and mitigation principles

  • Knowledge of renewable energy technologies

  • Knowledge of energy management & its relationship to ISO 140001 and ISO 50001

  • Knowledge of energy procurement processes, complex contract structures and energy related financing approaches

  • Self-motivated; quickly adaptable to new working environments

  • Systems thinker; ability to envision new possibilities

  • Experience with the Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) process

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Summary pay range: $111,750 - $155,250
