The Boeing Company is recruiting for a Senior Environmental Remediation Project Management Specialist to join the Southwest Environmental Remediation organization based in Seal Beach, CA.

The successful candidate will manage environmental investigations, monitoring, and cleanup of surface and subsurface media (soil, soil gas, surface water, storm water, and groundwater) and operation and maintenance of treatment systems.   

Ideal candidates will be self-starting and excel in both working independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams including Finance, Site operations, Supplier Management; Government Operations; Environment Health and Safety (EHS); Legal; Communications; as well as external stakeholders. Candidates will need effective written and verbal communications skills with internal and external audiences at all levels and the ability to establish relationships and build trust with key stakeholders.  Experience working with environmental regulatory agencies, specifically in CA, is preferred.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads investigation of soil/soil gas/water to identify potential contaminants and recommend remedial alternatives at complex project locations
  • Leads/oversees team to develop work plans and cost forecasts for all phases of a remediation project from investigation to operation and maintenance
  • Prepares and communicates remediation budgets of environmental liabilities to management.   Conducts financial and project status reviews with management 
  • Reviews and ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations relating to remediation work, and works collaboratively with regulatory agencies in determining remediation and compliance requirements
  • Negotiates investigation and environmental cleanup obligations with regulatory agencies, potentially liable parties, legal representatives and the public
  • Develops and directs contractor and supplier activities such as work plan implementation, tracks performance and reviews invoices
  • Coordinates public information/communications with internal stakeholders prior to release.
  • Conducts due diligence environmental assessments for real property transactions 
  • Perform oversight and administrator role for environmental remediation software, such as ENFOS
  • Some travel required, depending on location of projects

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or science related field
  • 3+ years of experience with state and federal regulatory agencies on remediation projects
  • 3+ years of experience reviewing and interpreting environmental regulations related to remediation work, such as Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)
  • 3+ years of experience managing, overseeing, and directing suppliers on concurrent environment, health and safety due diligence or remediation

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with Environmental regulatory agencies in CA (Department of Toxics Substance Control and CA Regional Water Quality Control Board)
  • Project Management or remediation engineering experience in the following: operation and maintenance of treatment systems, project planning (cost and schedule), tracking financial performance, supervising contractors, ensuring regulatory compliance, meeting performance goals, working closely with regulatory agency staff, and supporting public outreach activities (e.g., meetings, developing fact sheets).
  • Management of construction/remediation field activities, providing technical engineering oversight with evaluating cleanup options, reviewing and comparing site contaminants of concern, planning and reviewing pilot and treatability studies, and performing environmental assessments and evaluating and mitigating risks associated with business and/or property transactions on multiple concurrent complex projects. Strong leadership skills with experience interacting with regulatory agency staff, leading diverse teams of technical and academic experts, consensus building and decision making on complex regulatory/technical matters, and coordination with other responsible parties and their contractors
  • Ability to work effectively with other Boeing functions including communications, finance, legal, procurement, and facilities in accomplishing aggressive business goals and objectives
  • Experience with software for remediation management, specifically ENFOS

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience, 18 years' related work experience, etc.).  

Relocation:

This position is for 1st shift.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $118,150 - $$159,850
