Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a talented Special Technology & Special Mission Systems Senior Engineer to join our Phantom Works team in Tukwila, WA.

This individual will consult with leadership and other engineering leaders on a unique, technical team supporting the Boeing Phantom Works Special Programs and Capabilities (SP&C) organization under Boeing Defense and Space (BDS) in the Puget Sound corridor. This is a unique opportunity to work on exciting and challenging proprietary programs, from low to mid-range Technical Readiness Level (TRL). Within Phantom Works, our engineering teams utilize their expertise to create innovative, next-generation capabilities for a wide variety of next-generation aerospace platforms and products. We focus on innovation, capture, and prototype development to solve hard problems with cutting-edge technologies. In joining this program, you will be part of an outstanding team as we shape these new products. In addition, you will develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners. You will also pursue strategic partnerships and collaborate effectively with peer groups within Phantom Works, Boeing Research and Technology (BR&T), throughout other BDS organizations, and external technology service providers. This role will also require leadership consultation, direction, and strategy planning for all investment types to help propel Phantom Works as a leading research and development organization. The candidates we expect to serve this role should have a vast understanding and knowledge of air and space advanced mission systems and survivability technologies.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Directs research into advanced concepts and prototypes for various communication, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components to develop new business opportunities.

  • Works directly with senior customers to develop concepts and requirements for future systems.

  • Directs development of innovative tools and resources to improve all aspects of requirement definition, systems integration and product testing.

  • Works with source selection teams to identify appropriate suppliers for critical programs.

  • Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle from manufacturing to customer use by coordinating product-wide corrective and preventive actions as required.

  • Leads development of large-scale proposals to support development of new business.

  • Works independently.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Bachelor’s degree and 20+ years of related work experience OR Masters and 18+ year of related work experience OR PhD 15+ year of related work experience

  • Experience with low observables and low observable systems and payload

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+15 years' related work experience, Master+18 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: $190,400 - $257,600
