Insitu Pacific delivers industry-leading uncrewed aerial system (UAS) services to Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. Our expertise, operational experience, and knowledge has established Insitu Pacific as a key provider of end-to-end advanced multi-domain ISR solutions.

The Opportunity

Insitu Pacific is looking for an experienced Senior System Safety Engineer to work collaboratively across an interdisciplinary and multinational team to provide support to the safe development and in-service management of our products.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate customer and /operational needs to help define system safety requirements, derive safety controls and assure suitability of all physical, functional and program interfaces.
  • Support project teams, subcontractor and suppliers in understanding requirements by identifying, tailoring and flowing down engineering, manufacturing and operational/contingency safety requirements to meet program, enterprise and regulatory objectives.
  • Prepare and compile safety data items such as system safety plans, safety analyses, safety assessment reports, safety certifications
  • Support the conduct of related analyses for reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, and product assurance to ensure system safety aspects are adequately addressed.
  • Perform risk identification, assessment and management of safety related issues.
  • Conduct safety requirements verification and validation.
  • Lead the resolution of cross-functional product or solution issues that impact safety.
  • Guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Develop, document and maintain system safety processes, methods and tools for the business.
  • Develop and deliver oral and written system safety and risk presentations and training to employees, customers and regulatory agencies.

Experience/Qualifications

Essential

  • Tertiary degree qualification in an engineering or related technical discipline. Typical Experience: Bachelor's degree and 7 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 5 or more years' experience.
  • Detailed understanding and application of relevant System Safety job practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts. Possesses general knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Prior experience in delivering a System Safety Engineering program or related discipline in a complex project environment.
  • A continuous improvement mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while working to schedule commitments.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic and the ability to work in a team environment, including professional guidance and/or oversight of junior team members.
  • The ability to work accurately and unsupervised, and the ability to prioritise work as required and manage external/internal resources.

Desirable

  • Demonstrated experience with System Safety programs in the Australian Defence environment.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements
  • You may require a Foreign Work Authorisation (FWA) in order to perform this role. This is not a requirement set or determined by Boeing but by the Department of Defence under laws issued in 2024. Please refer to the Department of Defence website to understand these requirements.
