Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity and immediate need on the United States Air Force (USAF) E-7A Program for a First-Line Electrical Engineering Manager to lead the Mission Systems Radar / IFF team in Tukwila, WA

This position will have responsibilities spanning the Multifunction Electronically Scanned Array (MESA) Radar and managing the technical supplier management (TSM) of the largest supplier on the 737 AEWC E-7A platform. The MESA Radar is purchased from Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems. This position will report directly to the Surveillance and Self Protection Senior Engineering Manager.

In this role, this leader will be responsible for the following areas including, but not limited to: cost account manager (CAM) for the Radar IPT team/supplier and technical supplier management (TSM). This first-line leader will be leading the team equipment managers for the radar subsystems, execution support of certification and qualification for FAA and MIL, and electrical support of functional schematics and interface control drawings (ICD). This position also has the opportunity to support additional E-7 efforts such as Next Generation Radar, IRAD and RAMP.

The E-7A is the world’s most advanced, capable, and reliable Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) platform, having proven itself in operations around the world. The aircraft is designed to track multiple airborne and maritime targets simultaneously. It provides situational awareness and can direct other assets such as fighters and warships.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads employees performing engineering and technical activities in the procurement, technical subcontract management, development, integration, testing, and certification of the MESA Radar in support of US E-7A program objectives.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.
  • Leads radar and IRAD-related tasks and customer directed Studies and Analysis tasks for future upgrades to these systems.
  • Cost account manager (CAM) for the Radar IPT team and the supplier.
  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the areas of Electronic and Electrical Engineering.
  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures, and sets operational goals.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes.
  • Manages, develops, and motivates employees.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • Three or more years of experience leading or managing engineering projects or teams.
  • Five or more years of engineering experience.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Demonstrated Technical Subcontract Management skills on large programs.
  • Practiced skills in a Mission Systems IPT role or Mission Systems Radar and associated technologies, including HW and SW design; system integration; flight test support; and requirements verification.
