BGS P-8 Sustainment is seeking a Systems Engineer in Tukwila, Washington. Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Mid-level and Senior System Engineers.

This role will focus on the analyses of individual aircraft systems relative to overarching system of systems and specific customer/operational needs to balance lifecycle performance and cost for multiple domestic and international P-8 customers. The focus of this position is systems integration and program integration for the P-8A Increment 3 Block 2 (I3B2) modification program.

The position places a heavy emphasis on quantitative and qualitative analysis, creative problem-solving, and frequent interactions with customers, internal stakeholders, and technical subject matter experts to create a premier aircraft modification program and deliver superior capability to our customers. The customer-facing nature of this position requires strong written/oral communication and presentation skills. Enthusiasm, a strong collaborative drive, working knowledge of program management principles, cross-functional collaboration, and independent decision-making skills are highly desired.

The P-8 is a 737-derivative platform. Prior experience in P-8 fleet support or aircraft system design is preferred.  The successful candidate will have strong program integration experience and will be well postured to work with a diverse set of P-8 BGS sustainment integrators, BGS Program Management, P-8 BDS Engineering, US Navy program management, and technical contractors.

Note: Ability to travel up to 25% domestic and internationally.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Engage with US Navy and foreign military customers to provide program-level problem solving and support for P-8A I3B2 related issues
  • Play a leadership role in the P-8 change process to ensure cross-functional collaboration, sound technical solutions, and on time engineering releases
  • Collaborate with US Navy, foreign military customers, and Boeing internal stakeholders to develop and submit proposals for new business related to P-8A I3B2 modifications
  • Communicate with internal Boeing stakeholders, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure effective P-8A I3B2 program execution with a focus on resolution of technical, schedule, and budget challenges.
  • Support customer (external) and Boeing (internal) major program reviews, readiness meetings, and participate in developing program execution strategy
  • Provide program-level support for risk, issues, and opportunities (RIO) management utilizing the Boeing enterprise BORIS tool
  • Provide cross-functional integration across all teams (internal and external) to ensure high quality, on-time, on-schedule, program execution
  • Perform project engineering tasks including cost, schedule, risk, earned value management, driving affordability measures

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Tukwila, Washington.   

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 1+ year’s experience with developing, integrating and managing product/program lifecycle support activities to include support system analysis, spares, provisioning, technical data, training maintenance/modifications, support equipment and facilities
  • 3+ years’ experience interacting with internal and external stakeholders
  • 1+ years’ experience with program management, project management and/or business operations
  • Experience with U.S. Military or international government aviation and experience partnering with government customers to deliver services and products
  • Travel up to 25% of time both domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Level 4: 5+ years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years’ experience with program management, project management and/or business operations
  • 3+ years’ experience working with military or commercial derivative aircraft
  • 5+ years’ experience in proposal development, contract negotiations and/or contract execution with U.S. Government Customers

Typical Education / Experience:

Mid-Level (Level 3):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary Pay Range for Mid-Level (Level 3): $104,550 – 141,450

Summary Pay Range for Senior (Level 4): $128,350 - $173,650
