Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Quality Engineer to join our dynamic Tooling & Emergent Operation Quality team located in Berkeley, MO.

With a focus on ensuring the highest standards of quality, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving the overall performance and safety across BDS Fabrication. Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides Quality Engineering support to Quality Assurance (QA) team performing inspection via inspection gauges/precision measuring tools including Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM), Laser Trackers and other portable CMM.
  • Provides Quality interpretation of requirements related to tooling.
  • Develops quality metrics, design and production certification plans for tooling to ensure compliance with contractual, Company and regulatory requirements.
  • Creates and supports First Article Inspection (FAI) process (per AS9102 standard) to ensure applicable program or contractual quality requirements are met.
  • Reviews and interprets complex Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.
  • Uses 3D modeling software to convert 3D models to an inspection template using GDT features.
  • Conducts capability assessments and process validations to support supplier selection activities.
  • Participates in various reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs.
  • Performs analysis, tests and process audits to ensure manufacturing and test readiness.
  • Analyzes non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Recommends corrective actions to address non-conformances.
  • Compiles performance reports and other statistical data to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved.
  • Performs benchmarking and other forms of analysis to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved.
  • Works under general direction.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (An Interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post Start is required.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • 1+ years of experience collecting, organizing, and analyzing data; summarizing findings; developing conclusions
  • 1+ years’ experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications (e.g., blueprint/schematic reading, Boeing specifications (BAC), change, design).
  • 1+ years’ experience with Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) processes and implementing corrective actions
  • Experience working with Quality Standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100,

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with drawing, reading and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience working with AS9100 and/or similar QMS standard
  • Experience in conducting a Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) associated with a complex technical issue
  • Experience applying audit standards, procedures and techniques
  • Experience as a Quality Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineer, or Supplier Quality Specialist
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems through diverse approaches

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor, 3 years' related work experience, etc.)

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Travel:

Position may require travel up to 10% of the time.

Summary pay range: $73,100 – $98,900
