The Government Training Engineering (GTE) Team within the Boeing Global Services Engineering Capability is looking for a Systems Engineer to support multiple F/A-18 programs in Berkeley, MO. This role will report directly to the F/A-18 GTE Chief Engineer and focus on high level programmatic execution across the training spectrum. As a member of the Office of the Chief Engineer, this role will help inculcate a culture of technical excellence, teamwork, and accountability. This multi-functional team develops, fields and supports aircrew training devices and courseware for the F/A-18 Hornet & Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler. This training is critical to the customer’s mission readiness and effectiveness.

This role requires interaction with internal and external stakeholders to ensure products are developed to satisfy requirements. The ability to maintain and develop plans and to monitor and report performance is required.  Seek, Speak, and Listen communication habits are essential to success in this position.  This role will work closely with software development teams, test teams, System Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) teams and others to facilitate execution of the contracted work.  This position will also require occasional domestic and international travel as required to ensure successful implementation of the systems at customer sites.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain product roadmaps and system lifecycle plans.
  • Focal for Aircrew Trainer bid and proposal development.
  • Facilitate technical approach and architectural changes.
  • Perform make/buy trade studies.
  • Oversee Supplier SOW development.
  • Review SDRLs / CDRLs.
  • Coordinate program regulatory compliance, audits, etc.
  • PMBP Baseline Creation Focal

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. secret clearance Post Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (Level 4)
  • Experience leading projects or teams
  • Experience developing project plans and measuring performance
  • Experience developing technical proposal responses and estimates

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (Level 5)
  • F/A-18 experience
  • Agile development experience
  • Experience with Model Based Engineering (MBE)
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Experience delivering training devices, material, or instruction for an aircraft.

Typical Education/ Experience:

(Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

(Level 5)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary Pay Range (Level 4): $119,850- $162,150

Summary Pay Range (Level 5): $147,050- $198,950
