The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Tools & Infrastructure Lead Software Engineer - Flight Simulations Labs to join the Flight Simulation Labs - DevSecOps, Infrastructure, Tools & IRAD team located in Berkeley, MO.  This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Initiate, plan, and execute efforts to develop solutions to tools and infrastructure problems across FSL, including in the fields of software builds, software development best practices, automation tools, software development processes and methodologies, and simulation architecture

  • Drive the creation of FSL-wide technical roadmaps for tools and infrastructure efforts across all funding streams, including program, IAD, IRAD, R&M, and Capital

  • Provide subject matter expertise and serve as a consultant to all teams within FSL with respect to simulation architecture, software development best practices, and software tooling (BSF)

  • Lead BSF adoption and implementation across FSL

  • Advise management on plans to meet the technical expectations of the software engineering organization, communizing tools and infrastructure across programs, and plans to achieve engineering excellence within the organization

  • Act as a spokesperson for the organization, interfacing with groups such as design-practice teams, the software-engineering organization focals, FSL management and engineers, and external customers

  • Lead engineering activities, including development and maintenance of software architectures, requirements development, creating software designs, implementing complex software solutions, and testing / integration activities

  • Mentor early-career engineers across all of FSL to develop solutions to common problems across the organization

  • Perform technical design reviews for development across FSL to ensure software quality, commonality, and engineering excellence

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:

This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security Clearance Post-Start.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 10+ years of experience programming in C, C++, C#, Python, Java, or Ada

  • 5+ years of experience with software builds, unit tests, integration tests, deployment, and installations using a DevOps tool chain using Artifactory and/or Gitlab

  • 5+ years of experience with automated testing

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Travel:

Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.

Summary pay range for Lead: $151,300.00 - $204,700.00
