The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Phantom Works Space team in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

This position will lead a team of software engineers supporting multiple Phantoms Works Space programs, including the growing Delphi program, test and training capabilities for Satellite Digital Twins, and Space Battle Management Command, and Control (BMC2) programs.

We seek a self-driven person who enjoys being a leader and innovator, offering the opportunity to work directly with customers in defining systems supporting the future of war-gaming, testing, training, exercises, and operational system performance. 

The successful candidate combines a passion for disciplined software development practices with innovation utilizing new technologies and has a proven track record for designing and implementing open framework architectures.  This is a key leadership position which supports Research and Development efforts, customer programs, and many Boeing platform programs being developed for the United States Space Force.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Architect & Design: Take the lead in designing robust, well-documented software systems, ensuring functionality and user-friendliness.
  • Development & Integration: Spearhead the development of complex software components, integrating them into a cohesive, high-performing system.
  • Embrace Modern Architecture: Utilize the latest containerized microservice architecture to build scalable and efficient software.
  • Quality Assurance Champion: Develop and execute thorough testing plans, ensuring all software components meet defined requirements.
  • Performance Optimization Expert: Track and analyze software team and vendor performance, optimizing processes for efficiency and quality.
  • Automate for Efficiency: Champion the use of automation tools and CI/CD pipelines to streamline development workflows, increase testing coverage, and accelerate software delivery.
  • Break Down Barriers: Translate complex needs into clear, actionable user stories that drive development efforts.
  • Mentor & Empower: Train and guide junior and mid-level developers, fostering their technical skills and software expertise.
  • Deliver Excellence on Time: Drive the creation of top-quality software that meets all technical and quality standards, exceeding expectations, all while adhering to strict release timelines.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active). A final U.S. Top Secret/SCI Clearance Post-Start is required.

To be considered for this position you will be required to complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering
  • 7+ years of experience coding in either Java, JavaScript, and/or C++
  • 5+ years of experience leading a team of software developers through entire software lifecycle
  • 2+ years of experience utilizing Agile development processes
  • 1+ years of experience with all aspects of the software development lifecycle requirements such as definition, traceability, testing, qualification, and customer acceptance
  • 1+ years of experience with developing cloud-based web applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment using Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.) or GitLab
  • Experience with Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM) or other M&S framework
  • Experience developing distributed simulations using Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), High Level Architecture (HLA), or similar
  • Experience developing software with Python or Angular/React
  • Experience with satellite subsystems or satellite command and control

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Basic relocation is available for internal candidates.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary Pay Range:

$151,300 - $204,700
