The opportunity

We are seeking anMRO Services Operation Managerto lead our Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) Services Team leading supporting the P8-A Poseidon platform at Royal Australian Air Force Base Edinburgh.

As one of our Senior Managers, you will be responsible for providing leadership, strategic planning and technical guidance for large multi-skilled support teams. This role will provide the successful applicant an exciting management opportunity in a unique, fast paced environment

The successful candidate is to be both a creative and dedicated individual who will harmonize and lead a collaborative culture. This position requires the leadership skills necessary to make decisions with sound judgment, to train and mentor employees for improved performance, and guide the day-to-day operations successfully.

Your day

  • Manage a team of staff and liaising with other managers to ensure the timely progression of aircraft maintenance activities
  • Act as a member of this BDA Program Sustainment Services leadership team and contribute to the effective management of the business
  • Provide leadership and promote a safe and healthy work environment
  • Develop and execute integrated plans, policies and procedures and provides input on business and technical strategies, goals, objectives
  • Manage the regulatory maintenance environment under a Defence Aviation Safety Regulation Part 145.
  • Execute Continual Airworthiness Manger responsibilities.

Your checklist for success

  • Formal qualifications in project management (or equivalent) that meets minimum requirements of Australian Qualifications Framework Level 5 (Diploma)
  • Experience in leading and managing a moderately sized technical team in a dynamic environment
  • Experience in working in the aviation or military maintenance environment, while not essential is desirable
  • Proven experience in working and contributing to deliver results in a team environment
  • Experience in building and sustaining collaborative relationships with peers, leaders and customer representatives in a multi-cultural environment
  • Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements.
  • Have the ability to achieve Chartered status through Engineering Australia

Security Clearance

You will be required to successfully undergo the vetting process for a Government security clearance (Negative Vetting 1) sponsored by BDA. Therefore, you must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information and must have the ability to verify your background for whole of life i.e. birth to present time.
