The Boeing Company is seeking an Accurate Floor Grid Machine Operator to join our team supporting Boeing Commercial Airplanes in Everett, WA.  This is an exciting opportunity to Set-up, adjust and operate CNC riveting machines.

As a AFG Floor Grid Machine Operator you will set up and operate numerically controlled drilling machines to perform the hole preparation such as drilling and counter-sinking of floor grid structures. Load, position, index, and fasten work holding devices and parts. Check own setup and work to be certain that finished parts will meet quality requirements and specifications. Perform necessary selection, checking, adjusting, and installation of various types of tools to prove control media.

Position Responsibilities

  • Obtain appropriate drawings, Boeing (BAC) specification, documents and/or sketches, as required, using online computing systems, as required. Locate material to be riveted specified on W/O, IP (Installation Plan) or drawings from ready to work rack.

  • Ensure that correct part numbers and quantity of kitted (pre-picked) or hand picked detail parts, standards and assemblies were issued/selected, by comparing to IP and/or BOM (Bill Of Material) on drawing.

  • Make sure parts issued are free of visible defects.

  • Prepare to set-up job or run previously set-up job by reviewing work order, tie-in sheets, engineering drawings, specifications, planning orders, machine operation instructions.

  • Check machine set-up and/or parts completed by previous operator to determine progress on a job and ensure safe working conditions, as required.

  • Retrieve and download CNC programs to machine controller using computing equipment connected to various servers/data bases.

  • Identify type of set-up required. Select, install and adjust tools required for each setup

  • Run test coupon to check holes and fastener installation prior to running production parts.

  • Load and unload drill bits following program information or set-up documents, using tool holders and hand tools.

  • Adjust machine settings to correct drilling speed and speed rates

  • Monitor machine gauges and controller display for problems and visually ensure smooth operation.

  • Check work after completion of each operation in job and/or completed job to ensure assembly is complete per drawing, that there are no defects (e.g., gapped heads, high rivets, tool marks, incorrect length fasteners, seal voids), prior to putting up for inspection.

  • Perform minor rework as required (e.g., pick-ups).

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials (e.g. coolants, solvents) in approved manner (per Material Safety Data Sheets) using personal protective equipment as required.

  • Recommend changes in CNC program to simplify or improve processes.

  • Maintain personal and tool certifications as required.

  • Comfortable working in an environment with constant or intermittent sounds or pitch

  • Ability to work in in an environment with fumes, noxious odors, dust, and mists

  • Be able to utilize cleaners and Lubricants

  • Utilize Face/Eye Protection (safety glasses, goggles, and face shields), Hearing Protection (ear inserts, canal caps, earmuffs), Protective Footwear preferred (steel-toed shoes, rubber boots, foundry, conductive and electrical hazard footwear)

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 1+ years of experience with various types of hand held power tools

  • Capable of lifting, pushing and pulling up to 35lbs

  • Ability to stand and move (reach, bend, or stoop) to handle products for extended periods of time

  • Experience with any of the following: power-feed drilling, hand drilling, drill equipment, drill bits, cutters, cutter design, drill bushings, and/or drill nosepieces

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience operating 3 axis NC/CNC machine tools

  • Experience with either Siemens, Fanuc, or Mazatol controllers

  • Experience working with hazardous materials

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications

Typical Education & Experience:

High school graduate or GED preferred.

Relocation:

Relocation assistant is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Shift:

This position is for variable shifts.

This is an hourly position governed by the International Association of Machinists (IAM-751) Collective Bargaining agreement.

Summary pay range:$21.00- $45.04
