The B-52J Propulsion Integration team is seeking Mid-Level or Senior Technical Integration Engineer to support the B-52J team based in Everett, Washington.

This position provides a once in a career opportunity to re-engine a historic airplane. The B-52 Commercial Engine Replacement Program (CERP) is modernizing the B-52H airframe with a new underwing twin pod propulsion package. Our team will be retrofitting an airframe which conducted its first flight in 1952 and entered service in 1955. The CERP program is a collaboration between BCA and BDS that will enable the USAF to efficiently operate the B-52 through 2050. The B-52 propulsion integration team is seeking a qualified candidate to join our team as we complete the second phase of the program, continuing through critical design review, component testing, engine development program testing and finally aircraft modification and flight testing.

The successful candidate will interface directly with program leaders, chief engineers, and Senior leadership to implement strategy and policy at an organizational level on all aspects of the B-52J propulsion system.  The candidate will support Propulsion through all aspects of CDR.  This will involve working unusually complex technical problems and leading multidisciplinary/multi-system integration efforts.  This position involves supporting negotiation at various business unit leadership levels to develop alignment between BCA and BDS with regards to processes and expectations. 

As the program matures the candidate will be expected to take on new challenging tasks as defined by the program chief engineer and executive leadership and be expected to work under consultative direction. The candidate will serve as primary integrator and support Boeing and the customer to provide technical solutions and consultation across the business unit in regards to propulsion integration.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Mid-Level and Senior Technical Integration Engineer

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Define CDR entrance criteria and ensure alignment with SEIT and customer expectations.

  • Manage artifacts related to critical design review (CDR).

  • Support development of technical data packages in support of program critical milestones

  • Communicate project status, risks, issues, and opportunities to Propulsion and Program Leadership.

  • Lead technical review meetings to validate program status

  • Define, coordinate and control the functional and physical interfaces between the propulsion system and the vehicle.

  • Interface across the business to drive successful collaborations on Propulsion design.

  • Lead Technical Interchange meetings with Suppliers and Partners.

  • Lead teams to assure proper integration of propulsion changes with other airplane systems.

  • Lead the development of technical solutions across multiple disciplines.

  • Provide test integration support.

  • Some travel (around 10%) may be required

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in aeronautics or engineering

  • 5 or more years of engineering experience

  • 3 or more years supporting a propulsion organization

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 1 or more years of experience leading complex and highly integrated technical projects/teams

  • Experience in CATIA/ENOVIA/NX/etc. is preferred

  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

  • Experience leading technical trade studies across multiple disciplines and can provide technical recommendations to leadership.

  • Strong technical skills and demonstrated ability to understand complex problems

  • Strong project and time management skills; Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple projects in support of key milestones and aircraft delivery schedules

  • Excellent communication skills; Ability to clearly communicate complex scenarios with internal and external Leaders and technical SMEs is required

Typical Education/Experience:

Mid-Level (Level 3)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4)

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent

combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range Mid-Level: $100,300 - $135,700

Summary pay range Senior: $121,550 - $164,450
