Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), Integrated Cabin and Cargo (Payloads/Interiors) team is looking for a multi-skilled Electronic Systems Design and Analysis Engineer (Experienced or Senior) to join their Seats Integration Team (SIT) in Everett, WA and Renton WA. Position Overview:

The Payloads Organization handles everything you see and don't see when you fly. This includes airplane interiors, cargo compartments, exterior markings, associated systems, and cabin safety. We help our airline customers fulfill their mission, represent their brand, and shape the public's flight experience. Our organization is fast-paced and dynamic, drawing from various engineering backgrounds.

Seat Engineers oversee the integration of multiple passenger seat programs into Boeing aircraft. They ensure that supplier seat designs meet customer, regulatory, and Boeing requirements. This role involves coordinating with various teams, including Customer Engineering, Payload Configuration, Supplier Management, Seat Suppliers, Airline Customers, regulatory administration, FAA, and factory personnel. Strong engineering skills are necessary to review and approve supplier technical data, understand certification test requirements, and prepare engineering releases. The ability to represent the company professionally in demanding environments is essential, as well as flexibility for global meetings and travel.

We are seeking candidates with experience in any of the following areas:

  • Engineering support and project leadership within a production system

  • Direct engagement working with/for aerospace suppliers or airlines

  • Validating/demonstrating compliance to regulatory requirements

  • Working with regulators

  • Design for manufacturing

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Works with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements for passenger seats.

  • Analyzes and translates requirements into system, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.

  • Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.

  • Supervises supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.

  • Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.

  • Designs airplane physical and electrical system interfaces, encompassing airplane and seat wiring.

  • This role will require occasional national and/or international travel to visit customers and subcontractors.

Work Authorization:

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 3+ years of experience in engineering, including design, integration, and/or certification.

  • Experience leading a cross-functional team.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 5+ years of experience in program or project management, leading project and/or program proposals of varying complexity (including: development and execution of schedule milestones, financial assessments, resource assessments, risk and/or issues management, etc.)

  • Strong understanding and demonstrated experience with FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent

  • Experience in aerospace interiors, materials and properties, design criteria and release processes

  • Experience with system design and integration during a passenger seat development program.

  • Experience with DO-160 and DO-178.

Typical Education/Experience:

Experienced (Level 3): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. ​

Summary pay range:

  • Experienced (Level 3): $102,850 - $139,150

  • Senior (Level 4): $128,350 – $173,650
