Boeing is seeking an Associate Facilities Automation and (Crane) Controls Engineer to join their Facilities Engineering and Technology team in Renton or Everett, WA. You will support the cranes that build planes at Boeing's Everett facility.

As a successful candidate, you should be passionate about equipment and automation system safety and reliability. You will collaborate with other engineering disciplines, maintenance, and operations teams to ensure the smooth operation of overhead crane systems.

Your primary responsibilities will include designing, developing, procuring, and modifying industrial automation systems for the crane systems. This role offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of Boeing's operations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops conceptual designs, cost estimates, and project schedules for equipment installations requiring control hardware, Programmable Logic Controls PLCs, and control logic development/programming

  • Interprets and analyzes regulations, standards, codes, and ordinances to assist with control design

  • Tailors project design documents to incorporate control requirements from various stakeholders

  • Reviews and approves control designs for compliance with requirements, codes, and regulations

  • Verifies equipment specifications align with existing control infrastructure

  • Supports construction projects by providing input on vendor selection and proposal review

  • Ensures accuracy of drawing archives by reviewing contractor-controlled drawing submittals

  • Produces detailed design documents, project drawings, and specifications

  • Develops and updates design standards and operating procedures

  • Communicates problems and issues for resolution and provides maintenance support for control systems

  • Provides input to infrastructure planning and recommends capital improvements

  • Determines the cause of control failures and facilitates improvements in asset effectiveness

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. Tomeet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronic or Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering

  • 3+ years of experience reading & understanding engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications

  • 1+ years of experience programming in at least one language

  • 1+ years of experience using AutoCAD or similar software

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3+ years of experience in an engineering role

  • 3+ years of experience in increasing reliability of control systems

  • 3+ years of experience working with Siemens NX

  • 3+ years of experience working with automation and control systems, for crane and hoisting systems

  • 1+ years of experience using Autodesk Pro Suite (AutoCAD Inventor Vault)

  • Experience with electrical engineering systems

  • Experience configuring control networks including Ethernet and Serial Communication

  • Ability to program in ladder logic, function block diagram, statement list or similar languages

Typical Education/Experience: 

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range: $83,300 – $112,700
