Electrical Sub Systems team within Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking Lead System Design and Test Engineer to join our team and make an immediate impact on urgent and long-term development, program within the Everett, WA location.

Position Overview:

This is a high visibility role with leadership, technical assignments that directly support the BCA Program’s top-level goals, initiatives and challenges. The position requires extensive coordination and teaming with the 777-8F Program, Proximity Sensors teams and Cyber Security design groups, suppliers, and interfacing organizations. This position requires the candidate to have demonstrated excellent technical, written and verbal communication skills. Responsibilities include supporting a technical Boeing/Supplier team to ensure the implementation is compliant to requirements, using appropriate project integration methodologies, and project management practices. This position requires good analytical, organizational, problem solving, project management, communication, and collaboration skills.

Lead is responsible for managing assigned tasks as well as delegation of tasks and mentoring team members. A working knowledge of applicable industry FAA regulations, Electrical standards, supplier management techniques, and process tools involved in the airplane systems component qualification process is desirable.

You will have opportunities to lead and collaborate with people with international development teams, to create and deliver solutions to development program, while maintaining compliance with US and Foreign regulations.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Be an integral part of supporting BCA under development and the next generation of commercial airplanes

  • Strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, and extensive coordination experience both across internal Boeing organizations and with suppliers.

  • Knowledge of Proximity Sensors, development processes, and certification is required.

  • Coordinate and lead day-to-day team operations through:

  • Developing schedules and resource estimates needed to achieve program objectives.

  • Setting team priorities

  • Leveraging team’s collective knowledge to develop technical solutions.

  • Developing and maintaining professional and effective relationship with supplier

  • Proactively communicating to reduce ambiguity and anticipate colleagues and stakeholders needs.

  • Collaborating with manager, Peer system groups, Cyber Organizations and actively participate in the development and execution of our plan.

  • Interface with Certification/Integration Lead Engineers to ensure alignment on key activities; report status to Management on a regular basis at Performance to Plan

  • Communicate routinely with Internal and External Customers (peers, stakeholders, senior and executive leadership), Regulators and/or suppliers.

  • Mentor team in safety, certification and compliance

Work Authorization:

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Everett, WA

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 5+ years of experience performing complex engineering or system integration work.

  • 3+ years of experience in leading and/or managing complex projects.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience with US and/or foreign aircraft certification/regulatory processes

  • 3+ years of experience with FAA certification activities, processes, and procedures. (cert plan development, cert basis development, creating technical familiarization content, etc)

  • Experience with the transport category aircraft certification process (14 CFR Part 21)

  • Familiarity with systems engineering requirements & practices (ARP 4754, & ARP 4761)

  • 10+ years’ experience in leading and/or managing complex projects

  • executives, customers, stakeholders, peers, and business partners

  • 5+ years of experience with US and/or foreign aircraft certification/regulatory processes

  • Certification and/or experience working with FAA regulations and Regulatory Administration

  • Project Management exposure / experience (e.g., Project Management Body of Knowledge [PMBOK], ANSI/PMI 99-001-2008)

  • Ability to quickly analyze, understand, organize and communicate complex technical concepts/problems across multiple disciplines

  • Ability to work out of comfort zone, where process definition does not exist or is unclear. Take ownership/initiative, pull teams together, establish battle rhythm and remove roadblocks

  • Adaptable and able to operate in a dynamic environment to meet objectives on time

  • Good communication skills and a self-starter that takes initiative without supervision

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

  • Summary Pay Range: $128,350 - $173,650
