Boeing Commercial Airplanes has an exciting opportunity for an Lubrication Technician to join our team in Puget Sound region in Washington State!

In this position Maintenance Oilers monitor, maintain, dispose and dispense all types of lubricants required to run conventional machines, gearboxes and other equipment. Respond to emergency spills and must be extensively trained in the handling of hazardous materials.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Obtain work through sources (e.g., (POD) Plan of the Day, (SR) Service requests, Emergent calls, supervision, (EVT) Environmental Control Technicians) or radio dispatch, as required.

  • Operate a 2-way radio for job information and remain on call for emergency dispatch for quick response to spills, as required.

  • Work as a first response team answering SR or emergency calls for contaminants (e.g., coolant, water, oil) in the pickup and disposal per OSHA and State regulations.

  • Access on line information (e.g., Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Employee Time Keeping System (ETS), Maintenance Manuals, equipment manuals), as required.

  • Evaluate/determine type of lubricant to be used (e.g., weight, viscosity) to manufacturing requirements and equivalents, as required.

  • Calculate amount of oil, water and coolant volume, by using math (e.g., basic math, algebra) to convert square feet into gallons, as required.

  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on a regularly scheduled route, servicing machines (e.g., conventional machines, gearboxes) and other equipment, as required.

  • Maintain oil crib and shop floor with an inventory of lubricants or soap (e.g., spindle grease, hydraulic oil, glycol, synthetic oil, etc.) used in servicing machines and equipment, per site processes.

  • Lockout, tag out and tryout systems for safety when working on or around machinery, as required.

  • Work with maintenance mechanics in repairing and/or performing maintenance/rework (e.g., removing guards, replace /remove grease fittings) on equipment, as required.

  • Operate mechanical lifts (e.g., scissors lift, liftaloft) to access work area and/or material handling equipment (e.g., electric stackers, overhead crane) to move equipment, as required.

  • Operate equipment (e.g., sump suckers, tanker trucks. oil pigs) used in pickup/removal of contaminants.

  • Maintain coolant tanks by pumping, shoveling, cleaning, rinsing and replacing with clean coolant, as required.

  • Operate cleaning equipment (e.g., pressure washer, steam cleaner, foam machine) to degrease tanks and small parts, as required.

  • Perform/monitor containment of hazardous waste and label drums and products, per specifications (e.g., state, federal, OSHA, company) and regulations, as required.

  • Coordinate hazardous waste disposal, as required.

  • Maintain personal and tool certifications, as required.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Ability to work at heights and pass Fall Protection Training.

  • Experience handling hazardous materials and/or chemicals

  • Experience working around industrial equipment, performing lubrication and coolant routines.

  • Ability to use basic math (e.g. addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)

Typical Education:

  • High school graduate or GED preferred.

Relocation:

  • This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation.  Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Shift:

  • This position is variable shifts.

  • This is an hourly position governed by the International Association of Machinists (IAM-751) Collective Bargaining agreement.

Other Relevant Information & Requirements:

  • Ability to work 2nd shift with the opportunity to move to other shifts based on IAM contract and site needs.

Summary pay range: $23.50 - $42.55
