Propulsion Systems Engineering is looking for a Mid-Level Design engineer to join the Systems Design team in Everett, WA. This is a BCA role supporting the design, integration, and equipment management for the engine and strut systems.  Coordination with the engine company, suppliers, BCA Propulsion Systems, and program stakeholders across the enterprise is a key part of this role. This is an exciting opportunity to work in Propulsion Systems Engineering supporting both existing airplane programs as well as a development program

This design engineer will support the execution of various safety related and critical Propulsion design projects for BCA. Programs across various airplane models. An ideal candidate will have experience in project management, excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, a strong technical background, be curious, and the ability to effectively collaborate across multiple functions and organizations in a dynamic teaming environment.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages and maintain Boeing Propulsion designs, configuration, requirements and hardware,
  • Supports production and in-service airplanes.
  • Develops engineering change packages, including release of parts lists, model-based definition and drawings utilizing CATIA.
  • Spatial integration of components with other Design teams as well as coordination with Analysis and Integration teams will be required. Lead system architecture requirements definition and coordinate with system owners
  • Maintains Airplane Program communication with leadership, flowing up all issues that may impact safety, the production system, and suppliers,
  • Provides design oversight of supplier provided components for the Engine or Strut systems.
  • Manages suppliers to establish qualification test requirements and drive to completion of project.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 1 or more years’ experience in Aviation or Aerospace

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience using CATIA, PDM, ENOVIA
  • Experience as a Design Engineer utilizing CAD (3D tools)
  • Good project management skills
  • Experience with certification or compliance activities
  • Propulsion systems experience desired
  • Familiar with 14 CFR § 25 certification processes. Design Approval Engineer certification preferred
  • Experience with component qualifications or certification desired.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to communicate with vendors and internal stakeholders

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Summary pay range: $100,300 - $135,700
