The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Mid-Level Environmental Engineer/Scientist - Hazardous Waste Focus to join the team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a world class Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team located in Everett, WA.

As an environmental engineer/scientist, the selected candidate will work with the EHS Environmental team across multiple environmental subject areas, primarily stormwater and emergency response. The selected individual will also support conservation/sustainability initiatives in addition to regulatory compliance.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Hazardous Waste ("haz waste")

    • Manages universal waste program 

    • Completes routine haz waste inspections on site including small/medium quantity generators and other satellite sites

    • Manages haz waste inventory

    • Manages Polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) program, including annual U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reporting

    • Implements haz waste management plan (sample, designation, profile development, ongoing disposal alignment)

    • Aids in the assembly of the annual haz waste report for the Washington State Department of Ecology

    • Coordinates site-wide haz waste reduction projects

    • Oversees contractor/construction  management, integration, and support

    • Promotes Enablon haz waste module use and integration

    • Develops and implements internal assessments and corrective action plans

    • Serves as central point of haz waste stakeholder communication/education

    • Supports Hazmat team including responding to haz waste inquiries and providing guidance to central accumulation area management

    • Assists with development and management of preventative maintenance actions and standard operating procedures

    • Acts as a primary site interface with regulatory agencies

  • Emergency Response

    • Responds to site environmental emergencies

    • Investigates environmental issues and conducts appropriate reporting when required

    • Serves periodically in a rotation as primary contact for after-hours environmental issues and environmentally-related emergency response, as needed

  • Environmental Management Systems

    • Assists with developing, implementing and monitoring environmental management systems, processes and programs

    • Assesses risks of change initiatives and distributes to key staff to assign environmental controls and review project-specific Environment, Health, and Safety plans

    • Ensures adequate environmental controls are specified and that mitigation is applied to meet applicable regulatory requirements

    • Assesses the impact of emerging environmental issues, legislation and regulations on company operations

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. The required location will be the Boeing site in Everett, WA.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. Tomeet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • 3+ years of experience with environmental compliance, environmental program management

  • 3+ years of experience in areas of air quality, stormwater, hazardous waste, industrial wastewater, spill prevention, storage tanks, environmental sampling, data analysis, and/or environmental reporting

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, environmental science, chemistry, geology, or environmental management

  • 3+ years of experience interacting with internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience with environmental compliance and regulations

  • Environmental Permitting Experience

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. 

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range: $96,050 - $129,950
