Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) Air Dominance (AD) Division-Phantom Works is seeking an Air Vehicle Subsystems Engineering Manager for advanced aircraft development programs located in Hazelwood, MO.

The selected candidate will manage the activities of employees performing model-based aircraft subsystems development, design, performance modeling and analysis with a strong emphasis on Mechanical systems, Air/Fluid systems, Electrical systems and Strength analysis of Subsystems hardware and integration in the vehicle. These efforts are focused on the development of system requirements, component specifications, design, analysis, and integration of fluid and mechanical systems, thermal management systems, as well as electrical power generation and distribution systems.  The responsibilities of this position include the management of engineering release of product definition Build-to-Packages detailing the 3D physical instantiation of platform subsystems equipment components, transport elements such as tubing, ducting, wiring, support structures, mechanical systems, and associated strength analysis, as well as the review of supplier furnished reports and data.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage employees of one or more aircraft subsystems design disciplines to ensure that Statements of Work and program objectives are achieved on schedule and budget.
  • Lead and delegate the project team's responsibilities and tasks through all stages of the project life cycle.
  • Communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables.
  • Develop project and operational plans aligned to team objectives.
  • Implement plans to ensure business, technical and customer requirements are achieved.
  • Assign authority and responsibilities to employees to execute the plan.
  • Review plan execution, monitor and report appropriate metrics, make appropriate adjustments, and resolve issues.
  • Develop and track earned value management baselines.
  • Support the development of estimates and proposals.
  • Maintain staffing forecasts and coordinate personnel movements.
  • Lead employee development and engagement to support career growth, retention objectives, recognition, and empowerment.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of experience in Model Based Definition (MBD).
  • 3+ years of experience in an aircraft subsystems lead engineer or management role.
  • Earned Value Management experience.
