The Boeing Company is currently seeking a  Lead Software Architect to join the Enterprise Software Products & Capability team located in Mesa, AZ, Hazelwood, MO, Denver, NC, Manassas, VA, Long Beach, CA, Plano, TX or Titusville, FL, This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

Lead Architect of all X66 Software, a new exciting Boeing/NASA Aircraft project. This job would be responsible for design, development and integration and testing of X66 Software, including vehicle management application software, embedded infrastructure software, and associated displays.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position may require up to 15% travel.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads architecture of all X66 Software, including program application, infrastructure software, and cyber.

  • Works across Enterprise and Program Software teams to ensure a coherent software architecture amongst groups

  • Coordinates with other functions, such as Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, and Safety, to shape overall software architecture and associated interfaces between groups.

  • Reporting through ESPC Management, ensures Architecture is driven by Product-Line engineering (PLE) principals and uses a PLE feature-based approach to drive vertical and horizontal development.

  • Architect shapes development activities including driving optimized software development pipelines and automatic testing of full software stacks within the Boeing Software Factory

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 5 + years of experience providing technical leadership of diverse teams

  • 5+ years of experience in the software development full lifecycle

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience maintaining relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports

  • Strong background in software engineering and design practices

  • Strong background in Software Architecture of Embedded Safety critical systems

  • Experience with airplane industry specifications such as ARINC 653 and DO-178C

  • Experience developing Guidance, Navigation, and Control systems

  • Experience in commercial or military aircraft flight control development

  • Experience in graphical display design for aircraft cockpits

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Summary pay range for Experienced:  $141,100 - $218,500
