The Boeing Company is looking for a Release Train Engineer (RTE) in Leesburg, VA or Mesa, AZ. This position will support the Satellite Operations & Ground Systems (SOGS) organization. The SOGS organization executes software development across multiple program domain areas to deliver analytics, planning, scheduling, command & control, and mission management capabilities focused on ground user and mission needs. These software systems are integral to the daily execution of stakeholders’ missions helping to solve intelligence and DoD war fighter strategies

As a Release Train Engineer (RTE) at Boeing, you will facilitate the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Agile Release Train (ART) processes and program execution, escalate impediments, manage risk, and help drive program-level continuous improvement. You are responsible for facilitating program level work within the SAFe framework and coordinating with all teams across the organization.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate software teams on the ART through development and delivery, guide the transition to and implementation of SAFe.
  • Plan and facilitate all aspects of Program Increment planning on a quarterly basis.
  • Facilitate the Scrum of Scrum meetings, and acts as SAFE facilitator/coach at the Program level.
  • Provide guidance in Agile, Scrum, and SAFe and leads Agile delivery teams to deliver value consistently.
  • Support ART teams with ART Launch and Agile transformations.
  • Serve as an expert on Agile software principles to other team members.
  • Engage directly with stakeholders to define mission value and prioritize work and build intellectual capital in Agile techniques.
  • Collaborate with the communities of practice, develop and conduct Agile-oriented training, and identify and deploy key metrics to enable continuous improvement.
  • Support scrum ceremonies for the team where needed (Planning, Retrospective, Grooming & Review/Demo)
  • Facilitate impediment resolution in a timely, cost effective manner. Act as a conduit to other teams and lines of business stakeholders
  • Track and produce key metrics (e.g., burn-down, burn-up charts, and cumulative flow diagram)

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 4+ Years with JIRA and Confluence
  • 2+ years’ experience working in scaled Agile environment as RTE or Product Manager with a minimum of 5 teams.
  • 4+ years’ experience leading Agile teams as Scrum Master or Product Owner.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with launching Agile Release Trains.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Practical problem solving and strategic thinking skills, critical thinker, and self-starter
  • Superior communications skills with all levels of employees and both internal and external customers-including presentations, negotiations, and written reports
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining view on the strategic direction and being as detailed as needed. Willing and able to get down in the details "to make things happen"
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with demanding schedule constraints and technically challenging programs

Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. NOTE: Basic relocation is available for internal candidates, based on candidate eligibility.

Travel:

Ability to travel a 3-5 days/month to El Segundo, CA, Colorado Springs, CO, Kent, WA, Mesa, AZ, Leesburg, VA, and/or Washington, DC is desired

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only.  Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary pay range Leesburg VA: $128,350 – $173,650

Summary pay range Mesa AZ: $119,850– $162,150
