The Boeing Company is looking for a Satellite Ground Systems Integration Engineer(Lead, Level 4) or (Senior, Level 5) in Mesa, AZ, or El Segundo, CA.This position will support the Satellite Operations & Ground Systems (SOGS) organization. The SOGS organization executes Satellite Communication Ground Antenna Systems design, development, integration and maintenance across multiple DoD program domain areas to deliver and support Ground Entry Point (GEP) Antenna Systems.

As a core team member, you will provide design, development, build, and maintenance of satellite Ground Entry Point antenna systems for GEO, LEO and MEO base satellite communication architectures. This will include work on acquisition, processing, and visualization of ground antenna products, plus their web interfaces. You should have a strong background in satellite communications with a solid understanding of link budgets, modulation and coding schemes, understand G/t and EIRP; civil engineering and environmental impact requirements; and is required to have extensive RF and Optical knowledge and experience.

The GEP systems are integral to the daily execution of stakeholders’ missions helping to solve intelligence and DoD war fighter strategies. The SOGS organization is seeking a hardworking, motivated, and creative Satellite Ground Systems Integration Engineer to provide support for existing as well as new ground antenna system design and implementation. This engineer will assist/lead development of Ground Entry Point systems following modern DevSecOps and Agile execution processes. The customer’s needs require state-of-the-art, conventional and advanced ground antenna systems (RF, Optical and Phased Array) to effectively deliver data and telemetry for satellite hardware platforms (e.g. satellites, ground systems, etc.) for maximum stakeholder value.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Lead and Senior System Engineers

Position Responsibilities:

  • Flow down and decompose requirements from the program’s System Spec and Ground Segment Spec to subsystem and service level requirements

  • Develop capabilities supporting the program’s Ground Segment conops, design and test plan using MBSE tools

  • Collaborate and support Ground interface definitions with the Space Segment and SEIT program teams and externally with Customer and Operators

  • Support definition of Interface Control Documents (ICD’s), specifically Ground to Sapce; Space to Ground, Launch to Ground, and External Mission Partners

  • Understand the Risk Management Framework domain and program’s unique cyber requirements to ensure SOGS-developed GEP satisfies program requirements to attain Authority to Operate (ATO)

  • Support definition of Ground Entry Point infrastructures and integration into those environments

  • Support defining and architecture of ground segment sell off approach including testing tools, laboratories, and simulators

  • Support development and execution of ground statement of work and requirements specs

  • Understand and work collaboratively with customer and program team on their needs, goals, expectations, and sensitivities

  • Support program planning and proposal activities

  • Understand existing ground antenna processes / products and offer / drive improvements for current and future processes / products

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active) An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret clearance Post Start isrequired.

Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 5 years or more of experience designing, developing, testing or operating ground/satellite systems (commercial or USG)

  • 3 years working with commercial or USG satellite or ground customer teams

  • 3 years project management experience

  • 1 year leading development teams

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience guiding cross-organizational collaboration of product development

  • Experience with some or all of standard satellite ground functions such as command and control, mission planning, mission data processing, orbit management, situational awareness, automation, front end processors, ground antenna’s, crypto equipment, and terrestrial communication network

  • Cameo MBSE tool experience

  • Experience in Agile Software Development

  • Experience in DevSecOps development

  • Experience architecting and deploying complex satellite ground antenna systems

  • UCI, EGS, or OMS Enterprise Standards

Typical Education & Experience:


(Lead, Level 4):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

(Senior, Level 5):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range (Lead, Level 4):$128,350–$173,650

Summary pay range (Senior, Level 5): $157,250-$212,750

Mesa, AZ

Summary pay range (Lead, Level 4):$119,850-$162,150

Summary pay range (Senior, Level 5): $147,050-$198,950
