Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking Equipment and tooling Engineers in North Charleston, SC.

This position supports Boeing South Carolina 787 Aft Body, Mid Body, and Final Assembly Business Units with Equipment & Tool Engineering work statement.

Our Teams are currently hiring for a range of experience levels including Associate or Mid-Level Equipment & Tool Engineers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates program and project requirements, develops complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions for the Production System.
  • Compiles and analyzes technical data to determine the effects on product engineering design and rate estimates, identifies robotics, automation or technology recommendations and system integration for equipment and tooling.
  • Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.
  • Validates contractual performance milestones, maintains configuration control, conducts reviews, prepares plans for productions readiness, preventative maintenance, and spares. Conducts training for Production and Maintenance personnel.
  • Develops and implements work-arounds and maintains configuration of hardware, software and documentation.
  • Performs studies and make recommendation for disposition of assets.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accredited course of study in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Aerospace, Physics, Mathematics).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in Model Based Definition, CATIA, ENOVIA and PDM.
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience providing product definitions and technical support to groups, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.

Typical Education/Experience:

Associate: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Mid-Level: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation: 

  • This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Pay Range Summary:

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Associate Level: $76,500- $103,500

Mid-Level: $90,100- $121,900
