Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is currently seeking Mid-Career Electrical Subsystems Engineers to join the 737 Electrical Subsystems team in Renton, WA.

Our team is seeking qualified candidates with excellent communication skills, and experience in coordinating across internal/external organizations and suppliers to take on the Engineering role in our Electrical Subsystems team (located in 737 Final Assembly - Renton). 

You will be responsible for providing technical support for electrical equipment and projects that our team owns. The work scope can cover any aspect of the 737 Electrical Subsystems, including Electrical Power Systems (Generation, Distribution, and Storage), Proximity Systems (Weight-on-wheels), Warning Systems (Aural Warning, Master Caution), Exterior Lighting and misc. equipment (Window Heat, Airstairs). Your work statement will touch all aspects of the product life cycle from designing, testing, certification, production, and in-service.

This role will require significant cross-functional integration and provides significant Program leadership visibility.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Be an integral part of the 737 Airplane Program and support current production, under development and the next generation airplane products.

  • Work in an experienced design engineering team, communicates with all stakeholders, and coordinates across internal Boeing organizations and suppliers.

  • Communicates to reduce ambiguity and anticipate colleagues and stakeholders needs.

  • communicate with Internal and External Customers (peers, stakeholders, senior and executive leadership), Regulators and/or suppliers to reduce ambiguity

  • Execute and coordinates day-to-day team operations by:

    • Leverage teams’ collective knowledge to develop technical solutions.

    • Developing and maintaining professional and effective relationship with supplier.

    • Monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements.

    • Maintaining a focus & emphasis on solutions to production issues and fleet support.

    • Develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements.

    • Analyzes and translates requirements into system.

    • Tests and validates to ensure system designs meet operational and functional requirements.

    • Solves problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and/or software over the entire product lifecycle.

    • Researches specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs.

Work Authorization:

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite in Renton, WA. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.  

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's of Science degree from an accredited course of study or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

  • Minimum of 1+ Year of experience in Engineering.

  • Minimum of 1+ Year of experience working transport category airplane certification or production/fleet support projects involving FAA approval

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with EE Subs and/or engaging with regulators

  • 3+ years of experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with senior executives, customers, stakeholders, peers, and business partners.

  • 3+ years of experience with US and/or foreign aircraft certification/regulatory processes

  • Experience with the transport category aircraft certification process (14 CFR Part 21)

  • Familiarity with systems engineering requirements & practices (including 14 CFR 25.1309, ARP 4754, & ARP 4761)

  • ABET accredited bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science or related field

  • Certification and/or experience working with FAA regulations and Regulatory Administration

  • Project Management exposure / experience (e.g., Project Management Body of Knowledge [PMBOK], ANSI/PMI 99-001-2008)

  • Ability to quickly analyze, understand, organize and communicate complex technical concepts/problems across multiple disciplines

  • Ability to work out of comfort zone, where process definition does not exist or is unclear. Take ownership/initiative, pull teams together, establish battle rhythm and remove roadblocks

  • Adaptable and able to operate in a dynamic environment to meet objectives on time

  • Good communication skills and a self-starter that takes initiative without supervision

Typical Education/Experience:

  • (Level 2) Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

  • (Level 3) Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

  • This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

  • This position is for 1st shift.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary Pay Range for (Level 2): $85,850 - $116,150

Summary Pay Range for (Level 3): $102,850 - $139,150
