Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a Project Engineer to join the Missile Systems International Program based in Saint Charles, Missouri which is in the St. Louis region.

You will serve as project manager for the Cruise Missile Systems (CMS) International Execution Team and be the primary Boeing customer interface for international contracts for assigned CMS international programs (Harpoon and SLAM ER) located in St Charles.  As the CMS International Project Engineer, you will be responsible for day-to-day program execution including all aspects required to successfully implement and support the Weapons International Program Manager.  This is a predominately customer facing role and affords you significant development opportunities across domestic and international customer engagement as well as project management.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with the U.S. Navy PMA-201 customer program office, various international customers, and Boeing International in-country representatives.
  • Work with internal departments on contract performance using Boeing Program Management Best Practices and Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Manage deliverables by defining plans for risk mitigation, issues, and opportunities; and, monitor baseline plans to assess project performance, productivity, and lessons learned.
  • Establish priorities based on customer needs and provide technical, business, and integration leadership for the development and implementation of the project plans.
  • Communicate regularly with customers to keep them informed of significant events.  Respond to customer spoken and written actions including leading proposal development efforts and developing Statements of Work (SOW) to satisfy ongoing and new business requirements.
  • Inform the customer of program concerns, keep internal departments apprised of customer expectations, and advise external customers on program status.
  • Ensure that the customer has a fully supported weapon system by reviewing pre-contract requirements, supporting negotiations, and ensuring the contract final form meets the needs of PMA-201, the International Customers, and Boeing.
  • Host Program Management Reviews with PMA-201 and International Customers.  Prepare agenda and presentation materials, present materials, and ensure the total program status has been communicated.

To meet security standards and protocols, all work is performed onsite in Saint Charles, MO.

Travel may be required approximately 20% of the time; domestically and internationally depending on business needs.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  An interim or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and supporting project plans through the full project lifecycle.
  • 5+ years of experience with systems engineering on a missile, weapon, or defense program.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Active U.S. Secret clearance.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience interfacing directly with military customers and processes with a demonstrated understanding of customers' organization, requirements, planning and procurement processes.
  • Experience in a chief engineer or lead systems engineer role on air defense, strategic missiles, or missile defense programs.

Typical Education & Experience:

Lead (level 4):  Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Lead (Level 5):  Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Summary pay range: 

Lead (level 4):  114,750 – 155,250.

Lead (Level 5):  140,250 – 189,750.
