DevOps Engineer (Virtual)

Tapestry Solutions, a part of Boeing Global Services BGS, is seeking a Virtual DevOps Engineer. In this position you will work with other devops engineers, developers and other stakeholders on maintaining a CI/CD system for our on-premise, cloud hosted and cloud native products (all containerized).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintain build environments/pipelines for Java, JavaScript, C# based projects (mostly maven based Java and NPM based JavaScript) in close collaboration with development
  • Building application images (Docker) following common patterns
  • Maintain build automation pipelines in Jenkins, GitLab and Azure DevOps
  • Maintain and analyze cloud based PostgreSQL instances, usually managed services
  • Automate build execution
  • Administrate Jenkins incl. plugins and upgrades
  • Automation of Linux shell tasks through build automation tool chain
  • Administration of cloud resources (infrastructure, managed services)
  • Repository management with Artifactory and Nexus
  • Source code management in SVN and GitLab
  • Other tasks as needed, trouble shooting
  • Available to work during US business hours (mainly Pacific); Regular work is Mon-Fri, occasional weekend or after-hours work required

This position has been identified as a virtual opportunity and will not require the selected candidate to relocate.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Proficient in containerization using Docker, Docker Swarm and Kubernetes, AKS
  • Understanding of maven-based release process for Java development
  • Understanding of DevSecOps / Secure-by-Design principles
  • Experience with web application and web application support technology (HTTP, HTTPS, load balancing, proxy/NAT technology, CDN etc.)
  • Knowledge of common cloud environments; comfortable with cloud cli tooling
  • Cloud based PostgreSQL experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Python knowledge considered a plus
  • Knowledge of TDD/BDD implementation techniques considered a plus
  • Experience with Azure, Commercial and Government
  • Experience in shell scripting
  • Linux administration experience
  • Comfortable with agile / SAFe processes, tools (Jira) and ceremonies
  • Basic understanding of OAuth protocol
  • Active documentation in Jira, GitLab and SharePoint

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience, 9 years' related work experience, etc.).

Relocation:

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualification, as well as market and business considerations.  Summary base pay range $88,000 - $96,800
