Boeing Brazil Engineering Center is looking for Flight Controls Engineer (Mid-Career level), reporting to the Flight Control Manager, working out of the Sao Jose Dos Campos, Brazil office.

The Flight Controls Engineer will join the Boeing Brazil Flight Control System teamsupporting the Boeing/NASA X-66 Program. X-66 is the next generation Experimental Aircraft aiming to achieve NASA´s goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.  The X-66 will test the Transonic Truss-Braced Wing (TTBW) airframe concept that, when combined with other advancements in propulsion systems, materials, and systems architecture, could result in less fuel consumption and reduced emissions when compared with today’s best-in-class aircraft. The X-66 program will help shape the future of aviation, a new era where aircraft are greener, cleaner, and quieter.

The flight controls engineer position will join the X-66 program since the preliminary development stages and is expected to support the full program´s lifecycle including preliminary design, systems architecture definition, systems integration, prototype production support, verification and validation, ground and flight testing, focusing on the development and integration of flight controls actuation equipment.

Typical experience expected for Mid-career engineering level is: Comprehensive experience working at industry/academia supporting engineering systems development. The Mid-career engineer is expected to work with minimal supervision, being responsible to conduct projects and work statements. The Mid-career engineer may assist less experienced engineers in their duties.

Position Responsibilities may include one or more of the following:

  • Actuation system and equipment definition and trade studies

  • Requirement development and decomposition

  • Actuation modeling and simulation

  • Actuation equipment qualification

  • Actuation systems suppliers’ oversight

  • Actuation system performance analysis

  • Actuation system spatial Integration to aircraft

  • Investigation of laboratory and field issues related to flight control actuation system

  • Test procedures authoring, execution and analysis for rigs actuation system

This position is hybrid / Telecommuting. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Must have existing rights to work in Brazil

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited course of study in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical engineering, Industrial Engineering or Production Engineering.

  • Must be registered or eligible to register with the Engineering and Agronomy Regional Council (Conselho Regional de Engenharia e Agronomia - CREA)

  • Proficient in both verbal and written communications skills in the English Language

  • Experience with systems development

Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):

  • Experience with aeronautical systems development following ARP4754 standard

  • Experience with sub-systems/equipment supplier´s management and oversight

  • Experience developing actuation systems for aeronautical applications (eg. flight controls system, hydraulic system, landing gear and steering/braking system, cargo handling system, etc).

  • Experience with  modeling and simulation using hydro-mechanic simulation tools (eg. Easy5, AMESim, Simscape/Simulink, etc)

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

This requisition is for a locally hired position in Brazil. Candidates must have current legal authorization to live and work in Brazil. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.
