The Boeing Southern California Customer Support Organization in Seal Beach, CA is currently seeking a Mechanical Systems Service Engineer – Associate, Mid-Career with advanced and/or broad knowledge of Boeing design and engineering principles.

Primary responsibility will be addressing and resolving in-service issues related to airplane hydraulic and mechanical systems. The position requires flexibility to address emergent issues and important airline meeting during off-hours and may require off-shift work schedule to support the fleet which operates around the clock (24/7/365).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical, design and informational support for advanced production, product support or in-service issues.

  • Troubleshoot advanced and difficult system problems consistent with operational protocols.

  • Lead and/or support analysis definition and verification of basic and complex requirements.

  • May support the modification of system requirements based on defined requirements using approved processes and tools.

  • Support and/or create basic and complex technical documentation (i.e., Fleet Team Digest articles, Service Letters, Drawings, Specifications, Documents, Data Sets, Design Folders, Test Requirement Documents, Manuals, etc.) in accordance with engineering processes and procedures for internal reference or external delivery.

  • Lead and/or support the study and assessment of technology development by gathering data, supporting testing and documenting findings.

  • Lead and/or support the review of technical design, analysis, and production by reviewing documentation, participating in design reviews, and observing tests and audits to ensure compliance.

  • Lead and/or support the investigation of problems to provide engineering design disposition of discrepancies and the research of technical, operational, and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer.

  • Lead in designing and/or providing analysis of interim and final engineering solutions to return airplanes to revenue service.

  • Work with and possibly directing cross-functional teams to conduct root cause analysis and development dispositions for complex design non-conformances.

  • Prepare and/or support the development of customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.

  • Lead in solving problems concerning and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Seal Beach, CA.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or other technical degree.

  • 2+ years of industry-related experience within Engineering.

  • Flexibility to address emergent issues and important airline meetings off-hours that may require off-shift work schedule to support the fleet operating 24/7/365.

  • Ability to support occasional domestic travel to support our customers. – up to 20%

  • Experience in Microsoft suite (MS office, Power Point, and Excel).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Level 3: 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Experience working at or with airline customers and airline operations.

  • Familiarity with Airplane Health Management.

  • Experience with Engineering classification such as Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil or Structural Engineering.

  • Willingness to learn all facets of fleet monitoring and provide backup support as needed.

  • 2 or more years' experience regarding hydraulic systems.

Typical Education/ Work Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) in an engineering classification from an accredited course of study.

ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not a required, accreditation standard.

Associate (Level 2): Typically, 2 or more years' related work experience.

Mid-Level (Level 3): Typically, 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master +3 years' related work experience.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Please note that the information shown below is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. 

Summary range:

Level 2: $81,700 - $110,700

Level 3: $102,000 - $138,500
