Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) Space, Intelligence and Weapon Systems (SI&WS) division, is seeking a Senior Ground C2 Systems Engineer to join our team in Seal Beach, CA, or El Segundo, CA.  The SI&WS division creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with both commercial and proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space.  Our team focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers.  Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments

Position Overview:

The Senior Ground C2 Systems Engineer will join a high-performing team that is immersed in high intensity development projects. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work proprietary programs for U.S. government customers who are responsible for exciting advanced technology national security missions.

The Senior Ground C2 Systems Engineer will develop and implement engineering solutions and practices for key Ground System capabilities including, but not limited to:

  • Command and Control (Payload and Bus)

  • Mission Planning

  • Mission Management

  • Flight Dynamics / Orbit Management

  • Constellation / Fleet Management

  • Situational Awareness (Courses of Action, Decision Support System)

  • User Experience (UX)

  • Maintenance

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads Command and Control systems architecture, design, development, integration and test, certification, and operations

  • Integrates and tests Command and Control design solutions across various Ground test environments and operational facilities.

  • Documents engineering practices for replication, scaling, and continuous improvement.

  • Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to lead activities to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions.

  • Leads and executes analysis of engineering designs to transform a customer/operational need into a description of system performance and test requirements, integrates technical parameters and assures compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces in a manner that optimizes or balances the total system definition and design [synthesis] during integration, and integrates performance, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, and other specialties into the total engineering effort.

  • Leads interface development, documentation (ICDs and IDDs), and compliance and system integration across hardware and software domains for Command and Control to ensure system success with Ground Segment.

  • Leads and defines C2 testing requirements, required regression testing, test plans, procedures, schedules and documentation preparation to support verification, validation, certification, and transition.

  • Leads C2 analysis and preparation of test results to verify and validate design and performance to meet government, regulatory, customer and program compliance requirements and certification

  • Leads and executes operations support with logistics, supportability and sustainment/maintenance including sparing with operator training and transition procedures, plans, user manuals, and documentation.

  • Leads working groups with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Drives the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, and opportunity management processes.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Work Authorization:

This position requires an active/current Top Secret/SCI U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics.

  • 10 years or more of experience in systems engineering to include system architecture, requirements, interface development, allocation, verification and validation, risk management, integration and test.

  • 5 years or more of experience in leading engineering teams.

  • Experience in development of Command and Control software satellite systems.

  • Experience interfacing with cross-functional teams, senior leadership, and external customers.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 years or more of experience in Systems and software architecture.

  • Experience with agile development processes and methods.

  • Experience in software coding and troubleshooting.

  • Experience in Satellite Flight Dynamics / Orbit Management.

  • Experience in Satellite Constellation / Fleet Management.

  • Experience in Space Situational Awareness (Courses of Action, Decision Support System).

  • Experience in Ground Systems User Experience (UX).

  • Experience in Ground Systems Maintenance.

  • Experience with Cost Account Management (EVMS).

  • Experience supporting proposal activity for new and follow-on business.

  • Experience with Agile.

Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range (Senior - Level 5): $157,250 – $212,750
