The Boeing Company is looking for an E-7 Senior Chief Software Architect to join our team in Tukwila, WA. The E-7 Software Architect will lead development of the next generation architecture for the E-7 portfolio of programs and customers.  As such, the responsibilities of this position include an understanding of the OMS standard, the Government Reference Architecture, the Boeing BMC2 OMS Service Catalog (BOS-C) and the vision to drive this solution into the future customer base as the baseline product line offering for the E-7 portfolio. 

This position includes regular interactions with the customer base including USAF, Australia, UK, Turkey, Korea, and others that will want to join the family.  The position also includes regular briefings to both program and functional executive leadership. It also includes the responsibility to work across the Airborne, Ground & International software teams to maximize synergies and drive common solutions that will improve Boeing’s competitiveness for future opportunities. In addition, this position includes responsibility to chair an architecture community of practice that will involve the software architects from each of the E-7 programs as well as other programs outside of the E-7 portfolio to enhance cross program and division collaboration, sharing and reuse.

Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 50%.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Leads development of solutions to unprecedented and complex architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems

  • Directs development of verification test plans and procedures

  • Explores the enterprise and industry for state of the art methods, tools and processes applicable to software evaluation and test

  • Leads integration of new tools, processes, etc to improve productivity

  • Resolves complex embedded software and software verifications issues that span functional domains, programs and business units

  • Advises management on a wide range of high leverage embedded software and software verifications issues

  • Works independently

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

To be considered for this position you will be required to complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process.  Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.

  • 10+ years of experience in software architecture development and verification

  • 10+ years of experience with software development using either Java, C++, or Python

  • 10+ years of experience with Software Development Processes

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience with Open Mission Systems

  • Experience with Government Reference Architecture

  • Experience in mission systems integration

  • Experience with commercial derivatives, Boeing Commercial Aircraft products or military platforms

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+15 years' related work experience, Master+18 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Summary pay range: $185,300 - $250,700
